  1. In a large mixing bowl, add the drained tuna, diced avocado, chopped red onion, celery, cherry tomatoes, and chopped cilantro or parsley.
  2. Squeeze the lemon juice over the mixture to prevent the avocado from browning and to add a fresh flavor.
  3. If using Greek yogurt or mayonnaise, add it to the bowl for added creaminess. This step is optional, as the salad will still be delicious without it.
  4. Gently fold all the ingredients together until well combined, being careful not to mash the avocado too much.
  5. Season the avocado tuna salad with salt and pepper to taste. Adjust the seasoning according to your preference.
  6. Once everything is mixed evenly, cover the bowl with plastic wrap or transfer the salad to an airtight container.
  7. Refrigerate the avocado tuna salad for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together and chill.
  8. Serve the avocado tuna salad chilled on its own, with crackers, on toast, or as a filling for sandwiches or wraps.
