Ingredients
-
2 cans (5 ounces each), drained Tuna
-
2, peeled, pitted, and diced Ripe avocados
-
1/4 cup, finely chopped Red Onion
-
1/4 cup, finely chopped Celery
-
1/4 cup, halved Cherry Tomatoes
-
2 tablespoons, chopped Fresh cilantro or parsley
-
1 tablespoon (about half a lemon) Lemon juice
-
Salt and pepper to taste
-
Optional: 1 tablespoon (for added creaminess) Greek yogurt or mayonnaise
Directions
- In a large mixing bowl, add the drained tuna, diced avocado, chopped red onion, celery, cherry tomatoes, and chopped cilantro or parsley.
- Squeeze the lemon juice over the mixture to prevent the avocado from browning and to add a fresh flavor.
- If using Greek yogurt or mayonnaise, add it to the bowl for added creaminess. This step is optional, as the salad will still be delicious without it.
- Gently fold all the ingredients together until well combined, being careful not to mash the avocado too much.
- Season the avocado tuna salad with salt and pepper to taste. Adjust the seasoning according to your preference.
- Once everything is mixed evenly, cover the bowl with plastic wrap or transfer the salad to an airtight container.
- Refrigerate the avocado tuna salad for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together and chill.
- Serve the avocado tuna salad chilled on its own, with crackers, on toast, or as a filling for sandwiches or wraps.
