Ingredients
-
500 g, your choice (semi-hard cheeses like Gouda are best) Cheese block
-
3 Eggs
-
Breadcrumbs
-
Seeds of your choice
-
80 g All-purpose flour
-
500 ml Oil for frying
-
Salt to taste
Directions
1. Prepare the ingredients
Cut the cheese into slices about 1 cm thick. Prepare the breading by placing flour in one plate, breadcrumbs with seeds of your choice (you can use a mix of black and white sesame seeds) in another, and beat eggs with a little salt in a third plate.
2. Bread the cheese
Dip the cheese slices in the eggs, then coat them in flour, followed by breadcrumbs. Dip them in the eggs again and coat them in breadcrumbs once more. This double coating will make the breading sturdier, resulting in crispier and tastier fried cheese.
3. Chill the cheese
After breading, you can place the cheese in the freezer for about an hour before frying. This way, it will melt evenly and retain its shape.
4. Fry
Pour oil into a deep pan or skillet and heat it over medium-high heat. Carefully add the breaded cheese pieces to the hot oil and fry them for 5 minutes, turning them on all sides until they have a nice golden crust.
5. Place on a paper towel
Place the fried cheese on a plate or tray lined with a paper towel to absorb any excess oil.
6. Serve
Serve the fried cheese with a side of your choice, preferably a sauce like tartar sauce. You won’t go wrong with a spicy tomato sauce or even sour cream. Enjoy!
