Ingredients
-
900 g Carrots
-
50 g Butter
-
50 g Brown sugar
-
½ teaspoon Salt
-
Freshly ground black pepper
-
A few drops of lemon juice or balsamic vinegar (optional)
Directions
A side dish can’t get any simpler. Besides salt and a bit of pepper, it requires only three ingredients and is ready in about 15 minutes. This recipe is perfect for busy weekdays, hectic family gatherings, and everything in between.
Peel the carrots
Trim the tops of the carrots, and if they are thick, slice them in half lengthwise.
Sauté in the pan
In a large pan, melt the butter over medium heat while stirring.
Add the carrots and cook for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally until they soften, and the butter turns golden brown. The butter will begin to develop a nutty aroma as it browns.
Stir in the sugar
Mix in the brown sugar and cook uncovered for a few more minutes until the sugar thickens and glazes the carrots.
Serve
Season with salt and pepper, then serve!
Optional: Add a little lemon juice or balsamic vinegar at the end for a touch of acidity.
