  3. Heat the pan: Place the roasting pan on the stovetop over medium heat. If you’re using a disposable roasting pan, transfer the drippings to a saucepan.
  4. Add flour: Sprinkle the flour over the drippings in the pan. Stir continuously to combine the flour and drippings. Cook for a few minutes until the mixture turns a light golden brown. This creates a roux, which will thicken the gravy.
  5. Add liquid: Gradually pour in the turkey or chicken broth while stirring constantly to avoid lumps. You can also add some water to reach your desired consistency.
  6. Simmer: Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for about 5-10 minutes, or until it thickens to your liking. Stir occasionally.
  7. Season: Taste the gravy and season it with salt and pepper to your preference. If you like, you can also add fresh herbs like thyme, rosemary, or sage for extra flavor. Just remember to remove the herbs before serving.
  8. Serve: Once the gravy has reached your desired consistency and is seasoned to your liking, remove it from heat. Pour it into a gravy boat or a bowl for serving.
  9. Carve and enjoy: Carve your turkey, and serve it alongside the delicious homemade gravy.
