We love dishes that warm us up when it gets cold outside. One of those is the traditional baked pasta with ham. We mixed the cooked pasta with ham, fried onions, and spices, layered it in a baking dish, poured a mixture of eggs, cream, and milk over it, and baked it in the oven.

Pasta with Ham

1. Knead the dough
Sift the flour into a bowl, add a pinch of salt, mix, then add the eggs and a few tablespoons of water. Knead until smooth; if the dough is too soft, add more flour. Shape the dough into a ball, cover it with a cloth, and let it rest briefly.

2. Cut the pasta
Divide the dough into three pieces and roll each piece as thin as possible. Dust the rolled-out pieces with flour and stack them on top of each other. Use a sharp knife to cut thicker strips and then cut them into squares, or pasta pieces.

3. Cook the pasta
Bring a large pot of water to a boil and salt it well. Add the pasta pieces and cook for about 5 minutes, or until softened. Remove them, rinse under cold water, and let them drain.

Ham
4. Chop the ingredients
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Grease the dish you will use for baking with butter. Clean and finely chop the onion. Cut the ham into 0.5×0.5 cm cubes.

5. Fry the onion and ham
In a larger pan, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the onion and sauté, stirring until golden brown. Towards the end, add the ham and fry briefly. Remove from heat and mix with the cooked pasta. Season with salt and pepper, and spread it in the prepared baking dish.

Topping
6. Prepare the topping
In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, cream, milk, salt, and nutmeg. Pour the mixture over the pasta and place it in the oven for 20-30 minutes.

7. Serve
Remove from the oven, let it cool for 10 minutes, and serve.
